Blanchards: Expert Heir Hunters

At Blanchard’s Inheritance, we believe that the phrase “Heir Hunters” is more applicable to the BBC television programme than the industry we work in. Despite this, it is also one of the best ways for us to describe what we do.

We are “Heir Hunters” – otherwise known as probate researchers.

Blanchards look for missing heirs at no cost to you! We look for heirs who have no idea they are entitled to inherit from an estate. In a lot of cases, we work from the Bona Vacantia list but more often than not we are contacted by individuals who need help. This may be in regard to a family member, friend, client or perhaps even a neighbour who has passed away.

We understand through our experience in the industry, no two cases are the same; in fact, on the contrary any two cases can be vastly different.
If you find yourself questioning whether or not you believe to be entitled to a share of an estate, or someone you know has passed away, we can help.

What is Heir Hunting?

You may have heard of the term from the BBC programme ‘Heir Hunters’. ‘Heir Hunting’ refers to tracing Beneficiaries who would be entitled to an estate. This is carried out when the Intestate (the deceased) did not write a Will. In addition, the family could not be located to claim said estate.  In most cases the Beneficiary will not know the Intestate, being a distant relative. It is our duty to locate the Beneficiaries, inform them of the estate and begin the process of transferring it. You could call us ‘Heir Hunters’.

We are able to locate heirs worldwide at no cost to the public sector.

We will perform a free search for any missing Heirs. This reveals within a short period of time whether or not there are any living Heirs to the deceased. If we confirm there are living relatives we will let you know and assist you further should you require. However, if there are no living relatives we will prove this for you and you can refer the case onward to the Government Legal Department with peace of mind.

We believe that our modern methods of research, coupled with the traditional techniques that most companies use, make our ability to find someone or something almost unparalleled. Undoubtedly, our unique skill set makes us very capable Heir Hunters.

What are Heir Hunters? Heir Hunters or Probate Researcher locates heirs to an estate, often when the deceased dies intestate. We are able to build a family tree and locate any beneficiaries with our expert Genealogists, informing them of their potential inheritance.

Why we do it?  Probate Researchers are asked by various legal professionals to trace relatives of deceased estates. These professionals include Councils, Police, and the Government Legal Department. Once located by our Genealogists, we begin the process of connecting the estate to the those entitled.

How long does it take? – This varies with each case due to location and other variables. Usually no longer than a week to gain some information.

Do we charge? As the beneficiary, you will never be charged for this service. However, we do take a very small percentage from the estate.
